I thought you guys might be interested in reading this. This is something taken from the game that you all might want to pick apart. It was written by Alan Wake.

The amount of pages keeps growing each night. There are also new edits on the old pages. They keep getting more aggressive. The story is rewriting itself. The protagonist is now my namesake, and his wife is called Alice. The most worrying aspect: the genre seems to be shifting. It's turning into a horror story. I can no longer be certain whether the hero can succeed or even survive. Apart for jumbled fragments of bad dreams and an oppressive feeling, I can remember nothing of the process when I wake up. But this morning, a breakthrough! When I came to my senses, I could smell her perfume on my shirt. I am close. I know it. I must push on.

What's this mean? If the story is rewriting itself to accomodate Alan as its central character, does that mean it's altering the past of the main character to become things that Alan has himself done? What "aggresive" things has Alan done?

And this message, I believe, does not refer to the story in the game. It's intended for the fans, meaning the wait will soon be over, i.e. we are close to completion ("But this morning, a breakthrough!")

A few of us discussed the coma possibilities to death a while ago. I don't remember what was the consensus, but I'd prefer ambiguity over coming out of a coma and realizing it was all a dream/case closed. The excerpt AMD showed us can be regarded as ramblings from a psychosis, and the edits are Alan coping with something terrible he's done but can't resolve in himself.

It shows perhaps the narrative element. And the perfume on the shirt? Thats just amazing. To think that what you write can materialise is an interesting thing.

To me, that is more interesting that what Alan is writing. It could mean big things. I'll just sit by...and watch...closely...until...I...fall...a...sleep...

Well promo is probably not the best word to use. They've been doing Alan Wake themed things for a couple of years now so I don't think you should read into it.

As for posting up the things I got. I was given a Remedy t-shirt, the print and also an Alan Wake themed christmas card (again.. I receive one every christmas from them which is very nice. The christmas card like I said a while ago when I got it around christmas is simply the remedy logo and isn't like the previous years ones where there's a new screen).

Haha oops:

The in-game note from Alan Wake includes some spelling errors. Such as when he states he can no "loner" be sure if the character in his novel will survive the experience. It's unclear if the misspellings are intentional.

That wasn't intentional That's a slip-up on my part due to typing it out half asleep and 'loner' obviously doesn't show up in spelling checks! I've fixed the first post and made sure I've double and triple checked it now!

I like how they've made it out like it's a part of Alan's character, read the comments. Sorry guys!

If you received different information. Its quite obvious they want us to come together and solve the mystery from the random pieces of information.

In other words from this - we are close to a release date.

I mean this was hailed as a release title for the XBox360. It was on the cover box when I bought mine 4 years ago. I sure hope this game lives up to the time its taken.

Think about Oblivion - a great game in its own right. But by the time it was released - all the textures, graphics etc looked old school.

If you guys, don't mind, I'd like to try my hand at deciphering it. I think a lot of it is in referrence to Remedy's development cycle with AW.

-Referring to their new layers over AW. From when we saw it in '05, to '08/'09.

-The game is getting darker and more intense, and their development is getting more serious (i.e. in the last stages). As for the story part, it could refer to Remedy's changing of plotlines in the overall story, or the many paths we can take in AW.

-Referring to what AW actually is when it comes to a genre. The game will takes us down many avenues, of horror, action, survival, puzzle, stealth? That last bit could mean we aren't sure if Alan can even make it out of the nightmare of his dreams, and we won't be able to tell the difference between reality and fiction.
