Remedy
A small update

Dear people,

We feel we owe you all a small heads up, and our apologies for lack of updates. This is just part of our psychological thriller, is it all real or imagined...
Seriously, yes, we're still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy. Sure, we've been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already. But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward.

We want to entertain you guys in the best possible way and our team is putting in every effort possible in order for that to happen. That is the way Remedy wants to do things. I'm sure you will enjoy Alan Wake when we're done.

Just follow the light...

Thanks. Much appreciated. I am game developer myself so i know what kind of problems will be in the making of the game. I will trust you make a truly awesome and new kind of game that will be unique.
We will wait. You just have to make the game.

Mika,

Thanks for letting us know you are all ok and not MS Zombies (although you might be, how would we know??? Hmmm....)

I myself am trying to make Pong in XNA, so I feel your pain!! Granted you know what C# stands for, and I will stop myself there.

I do have one request, my three year old would very much like it if you added a Droideka to the game? (Star Wars)

Many Thanks!!

Thanks a bunch for the update Mika. This has helped me quash my sorta-doubts on the game's actual development.

Can't wait to here from you again.

Great. This should hopefully shut up whiners and cancellation trolls. Meh, who am I kidding, that insinuates they are rational.

Mika's post is showing up on major game sites like EvAv, V3D, 1UP, BluesNews, YouGamers, Ferrago, Joystiq, Kotaku.

Happy days. Hopefully the ner'do wells will now admit that Alan Wake will see the light of day(do you like what I did there) and I for one cannot wait to follow the adventure through Bright Falls.

Roll on "when its done!"

To add to that: ActionTrip, Eurogamer, IGN, videogaming247, and probably everywhere else by the end of the day.

Goes to show that anyone saying interest in Remedy and the game is waning, or dazzling us with their coffee-house marketing wisdom on why the wait will hurt them, is full of shit.

why is everyone thanking him for the "update"?

He didn't update us on anything, just the fact that they are still working on the game. Was this ever in question?

I personally wasn't "sure" it was cancelled, but I did pass along my own experience (twice) with games where folks in charge reassured us one day all was well and then two days later came the cancellation announcements.

I'll say, though, that this sounds different -- better -- and I am happy. I'm still waiting till the last possible minute to reinstall Vista, though. I mean, c'mon -- Vista still stinks. LOL

well, many games take detour during the preproduction and even the production. It's better to take as much time as you need to make the game as good as possible.

Um, to be fair though (and rather obvious), they ARE videogame websites...reporting on videogames, ALL videogames, is what they do

Which of course begs the question how did ALL those videogame sites happen to miss the rumour you found about AW being cancelled?

Actually, www.computerandvideogames.com publishes one of the magazines that actually said it...go to the x box 360 part of the site and that's the official site of one of the magazines that said it

So I doubt they missed it, seeing as they published the magazine

This is the site for the other magazine

http://www.360-gamer.com/

This is in the website's page for alan wake (though it does not mention this update, I'm simply stating this because you seem to be sceptical that the rumour was actually published) ''Still, given its no-show at E3, the continued lack of news about Wake is somewhat worrying. Let’s hope it sticks in an appearance at the Leipzig Games Convention next month''. And if you still aren't convinced they said it and it wasn't just me making it up (which you clearly do think) you can order the latest issue (theres a pic on the site, it has the darksiders cover on) yourself and see that I didn't just pull it out of thin air

Not to mention, the first post DOES indicate that the devlopment has been somewhat troubled and bumpy, which is what the magazines also said.
