The last remaining memories fade away into darkness. Your mind is a mess and only a feeling of being hunted remains. You must escape.

Awake...

Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a first person survival horror. A game about immersion, discovery and living through a nightmare. An experience that will chill you to the core.

You stumble through the narrow corridors as the distant cry is heard.

It is getting closer.

Explore...

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel as he wakes up in a desolate castle, barely remembering anything about his past. Exploring the eerie pathways, you must also take part of Daniel's troubled memories. The horror does not only come from the outside, but from the inside as well. A disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind awaits.

A sound of dragging feet? Or is your mind playing tricks on you?

Experience...

By using a fully physically simulated world, cutting edge 3D graphics and a dynamic sound system, the game pulls no punches when trying to immerse you. Once the game starts, you will be in control from the beginning to the end. There are no cut-scenes or time-jumps, whatever happens will happen to you first hand.

Something emerges out of the darkness. It's approaching. Fast.

Survive...

Xbox Live Gold price increase coming November 1

Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5625516/xbox-live-price-increase-coming-november-1)

Xbox Live Gold subscribers might want to renew before November 1, when the price of a yearly subscription to the service jumps $10 in North America.

According to a post on Major Nelson's blog, after eight years' of Xbox Live at the $50 a year price point, the service is finally seeing a price hike. Starting on November 1, a year Gold subscription to Xbox Live will run $59.99, versus the current price of $49.99. One month subscriptions will jump from $7.99 to $9.99, while three month subs will rise from $19.99 to $24.99.

Other regions will be seeing increases as well. In the UK the price of one month will jump from 4.99 GPB to 5.99 GPB. The price of a month in Canada rises a dollar to $9.99. Finally, a year subscription in Mexico rises from 499 to 599 pesos.

Microsoft is running a special deal right now for North American customers, allowing them to lock in a year at $39.99, $20 less than the new rate. For details, visit the deal website.

Jesse Divnich with industry analyst EEDAR sent out a statement accompanying the news, insuring consumers that $60 is still "an incredible value."

"When originally launched in 2002, a Gold subscription cost the same as an AAA video game, $49.99. When taking into account for inflation ($50 in 2002 is roughly $60 in 2010) and the additional services available to Gold subscribers in 2010, such as ESPN, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Last.fm and Video Kinect, a $10 price increase still represents an incredible value to consumers"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Damn that sucks but at least I'm expecting a better service with less lag and better deals

An Interesting Look At The Survival Horror Genre

I know Wake isnt an out and out Survial Horror Game but it does have some of the traits and experiences of the Genre (and it also gets name checked).

I hope that devs listen to what fans of the Genre want as it really is a dying breed but one of the best that Gaming can provide.

Thoughts. Where are all the scary Games?

Buying used games is cheating

Lately I have been reading a lot about a conflict between publishers and gamers regarding buying used games (http://kotaku.com/5620280/thq-buying-used-games-is-cheating). The developers state that buying used game harms the gaming business because if a person buys a used copy of a game the money isn’t going to the developer but to se reseller. And that they are going to create some kind of method to cut out the used game trades.

In my opinion I have to agree that buying used games and piracy are the same because in both ways the developer and the publisher are not getting any money at all. If you buy let’s say Alan Wake used you are not giving Microsoft or Remedy any money. You are giving it to the reseller and if you download the game from a torrent you are not giving any money to MS or RMD and you still have the game. Of course piracy is a crime and buying used game is not, this is just a comparison between both acts.

Ok, now let’s get real. Imagine you buy a car let’s say a BMW. A new car in an agency and you pay full price for it. Now 6 months pass and you have to sell the car because X reason. You sell the car and you have the money right? BMW isn’t going to get a penny of what you have sold. But they are not going to create a “lock” or a “code” that only the first buyer can get let’s say a MP3 player and a GPS, and the second buyer should pay them to get a new one, right?

The same is with video games and everything in the whole damn world. If a buy something and then I want to sell it because I want to BUY A FREAKING NEW GAME why it is cheating just because I don’t want to play that game and I need money. Last week I sold 3 games to a friend and I got enough money to buy a new game, Halo Reach. I preordered Halo Reach with the money of the used games. So, if I can’t sell my old games I can’t buy new ones because that is how I work with my money. I like to save money for the future and don’t spend $60 every time I want to play a game that is 1 year old, yes because I buy used games when they are considered old.

In other threads I read posts about people saying that $60 is too cheap for a game that we should pay more because making games is expensive and that the developers don’t get enough money. But hell good games sell like crazy, Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty, Halo, GTA 4. Maybe you don’t like one of these games but that is your choice, the other millions of people do like the games. I bought all those games new because I like them and I think that they are worth the full $60 price tag. So my point is that if publishers and developers want that people buy new games and not used do something to encourage people to do so, do not punish the gamers because they don’t. That is silly and is a freaking bullsh*t.

This is just my point of view, I am not and expert regarding the gaming business or the economy of the gaming world. Any comment is welcome and please respect other peoples point of views. Of course I would like to know that Remedy thinks about this conflict.

Remedy, what are your favourite video games of this generation?

Hey guys (and spesifically people working over at Remedy, please :)), I wanted to ask out of interest what are your favorite games of this generation? Alan Wake is easily in the top 10 (alongside both Mass Effect games, GTA IV, Killzo- Well moving on :p), but my all-time favorite has to be BioShock. It is the most thematically powerful video game I have played ever, and the gameplay has a great amount of variety.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Let's make some AW-community nights!

_*Update: The date and time for the second AW MW2 Community Get-Together is Saturday, the 11th of September at 10 PM GMT.
*_

*_How do I get an invite into the game?_*

It's very simple: All you need to do is send me a message on Xbox Live (my Gamertag is GunGraveTZA) saying "AW MW2 invite please", and then if you're online and playing MW2 when I start the game I'll send you an invite! :D

*_What will we be playing, playlist wise?_*

Currently the plan is to have two Private Matchs to get us all warmed up (possibly playing more fun types like Mike Myers), then there will be 3 to 6 Mercenary Team Deathmatch games so we can all stay in the Party to make invites easier. However the online match can change depending on how many people want a different playlist. Since my microphone is currently broken just say you want to change the playlist to something else and if enough people agree (at least over half) it will be changed. However, there will be no DLC playlists as I do not own any of them (I am NOT going to spend £20 on some maps).

*_Will there be any other games to play other than MW2?_*

Yes. There is a poll you can vote in for which game you would like to play after Modern Warfare 2, and after 2 more games the game will switch, then after 3 games of that it will switch to the second most popular vote, then 3 more games of that and the third most popular result, etc. So get those votes in so YOU can choose what to play next!

So come on guys, send in those messages! :)

Hey guys, I just thought I'd leave this little question to the community and see if most of you agree with me. What games offer the best value for money?

In my opinion, it is single-player RPGs by far. Every single single player RPG I have baught (with the exception of Mass Effect 1, how I pulled this off don't ask me but I speed ran my first playthrough in 8 hours o_0) I have taken at least around 15 hours to finish so it's safe to say that my money was well-used. :p

The proper title is in brackets because I find near everyone doesn't know what I'm talking about. If you don't know what Parasite Eve is, then you probably wouldn't care for it. Although curiousity may enlighten you. Squeenix announced a reveal at Gamescom, they supplied a trailer with a little more depth into story this time around. From what I've read the release is at the end of this year.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Image: http://s2.n4g.com/media/11/news/585000/587146_0.jpg

Hi
Everyone is familiar with this series which started with AC and followed by a decent sequel as ACII that was far better than the original.

Now CVG has revealed some interesting information about Brotherhood.

---Quote---
Brotherhood starts at exactly the moment that Assassin's Creed 2 ended - with you stepping straight back into Ezio's boots.

Brotherhood will feature 15 hours of gameplay in the campaign mode, plus all the promised wonders of multiplayer.

Ezio, of course, is now a master assassin - and to overthrow the Borgia rule of Rome he will need to create a new Assassin's Guild, uniting the underground resistance against the Borgia.

You'll be able to recruit multiple new assassins into this guild by completing missions around the city (for example citizens being harassed by Borgia guards), then train and level them up with extra weapons and skills in a kind of RPG development.

Once you do, you'll be able to call on these NPC assassins during your actual missions in a new BAM system, asking them to silently take out Borgia guards or lend a hand when you're involved in large scale combat and storming operations.

You'll also be able to send these assassins on (we think non-playable) contract missions around Europe from Moscow to London to gain additional experience. Level 7 NPC assassins look well hard.

Ezio has a parachute. Yup you read that fricking right, a parachute! Most likely the work of Leonardo, you'll get extra style points (in our minds) for base jumping from the highest landmarks, opening your chute late, landing straight onto your horse and riding off!

You'll be able to hurl oversized weapons like the double headed axe for maximum carnage!

Assassin's Tomb missions look most likely set to return (though when we asked this was met with a knowing smile and a 'we can't talk about that now').

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will feature the biggest city the series has ever seen, with the eternal city of Rome confirmed as at least three times bigger than Florence from Assassin's Creed 2.

Rome is dominated by Borgia towers each of which exert a zone of influence. To free the city you'll have to conquer each tower, find and slay its Borgia overlord and then torch the building, sending it tumbling to the ground.

Once you conquer a tower, new opportunities like shops will open up as Borgia Influence starts to wane.

There will be more modern day sequences featuring subject 17 Desmond and these are set to feature much more actual gameplay than in Assassin's Creed 2.

DLC is already planned, but Ubi remain tight lipped on anything further details.
---End Quote---
Highlights are my points of interest;)
