Barry Wheeler costume - need help from Remedy or community

Hello.

I'm currently planning a Barry cosplay for the new york comic con. I'm pretty far along. I still need to get a headlamp but there's one thing I need help with which without my costume won't make sense and will be super lame: Alan wake cardboard cutout. That will just make it one of the most amazing things at the con.

As it stands Im looking for a high res image so I can either print or paint my own cutout. I posted previously asking something similar and the forum mod said he'd look into it but I never heard anything. If someone at remedy could help me out or if someone in the community could capture a really nice clear image, I would be incredibly grateful. Thanks again.

I've done a search and couldn't find anything relating to this so apologies if my search wasn't as in depth as it should be lol.

I've seen threads like this on many forums and it's always cool to guage peoples professions..

So.. What do you do for a living?. Do you enjoy it?. Give a brief description of what your job entitles.

I work in Central London as a bus controller

My job is pretty cool in certain aspects but a nightmare on others. Basically my company operates 30 different bus routes in London and they are all contracted out by London Buses (TFL). I sit in an office and have a GPS system that tracks every single bus my company operates and i can see it on a live map. I get time stamps off of each vehicle to make sure they are on time

London Buses (TFL) give us an operating time table and extremely strict parameters that we must operate to. That's where i come in as a service controller. I regulate the service by means of curtailing (cutting short) certain buses to eradicate extensive gaps and long waiting times.. sounds easier than it is believe me. The traffic in Central London is a nightmare and we must not allow the route's performance to drop as per the conditions of the contract. Yeah it's stressful and the drivers really get on my nerves when they don't operate to the standard that's expected..

Anyway if you want to know more about London Buses then drop me a message or post here

I'll get some pics up in the week of my depot / work enviroment etc - Sure aint elegant but it's a job

Oh yeah if your gonna post please be honest and don't state your a pilot or something if your sponging off the state. If your a student then post that and what you study

A really good interview with Mikki.

Some really good questions and some even better answers!!

It just makes the wait for the incoming DLC and (inevitable) sequel that much harder to take.

As a fan of Remedy and Alan Wake, I just wanted to suggest what they should do next. I'm not forcing anybody, but if Remedy likes to listen to its fans, here is what I think they should do with Alan Wake. This is in chronological order.

_Whats already been done:_
Bright Falls Webisodes 1-6 (Prequel to Alan Wake)
Alan Wake
The Signal DLC
The Writer DLC

_What they should do next:_
Bright Falls Webisodes 6-?(Epilogue to Alan Wake)
A sequel to Alan Wake with both DLC's included on disc, with limited/collector's edition versions.
Turn Alan Wake into a franchise like GTA or Halo. The sequels could be called Alan Wake: Season Two, Season Three, etc. Since Alan Wake uses Episode format in the game.
They should obviously have better release dates than the first game had.
Turn Alan Wake into a feature film.

Alan Wake deserves to be the greatest story ever told and video game franchise ever made.

We all know that the sales figures could've been a lot better, so one thing came to my mind:

Wouldn't it be a good idea to re-release the Alan Wake episodes on XBOX Live as a stand-alone? With a free Pilot maybe... I guess a lot of people who thought about buying it might just get intrigued when they are actually starting to play the first episode and they probably would want to know how the story continues. And even if the concept fails, it doesn't really matter cause - as I presume - there wouldn't be much cost to Remedy. If the concept of DLC episodes of the first "season" works out, there will probably be more people interested in buying "season" 2 =)

I'm just wondering, did you guys from Remedy ever think of that before?^^

Yeah, I wasn't paying attention and didn't save any flares for the part in "make it through the woods" where the gate close behind you and a chainsaw taken smashes through another gate uphill from you. He is flanked by 2 or 3 smaller enemies and I keep getting killed. I have no flares, only 4 batteries, one shot in a shotgun but my pistol is full. So far if I try to burn off the darkness my batteries run out and I'm cornered. Then I switched to going right up to the gate they smash through and try to dodge past and get uphill from them so I can at least try the old flash & run technique but I'm not fast enough so far. Please don't suggest dodging, flashing, running till I get to the next safe haven. I'm trying that. Any other advice? I thought I was so bad*** at this game till I switched to nightmare difficulty.:(

My Alan Wake Experience

Hey everyone, I've been reading all your awesome feelings and experiences with Alan Wake and I thought I'd share my own. Needless to say there are...

SPOILERS AHEAD!

When I saw Alan Wake at last years E3, that was the first time I even heard about the title. I wasn't exactly jumping up and down to get it because I don't like to be creeped out. Only game before Alan Wake that made the chills down my back worthwhile was Dead Space, So in June I had sold off some classic game systems and decided I wanted to get the game.

My friends suggested I should get RDR (or buy it in addition to Alan Wake) because it has multiplayer. Lately i've been "personal" about the Single Player experience, having never played the Max Payne series i only figured Remedy would do good on the single player on Alan Wake because there's no multiplayer (gotta perfect all you have right hahah). Seems like i'm being stupid and not putting faith in Remedy, but since I hadn't played any of their games before and was forgoing RDR in favor of Alan Wake, I think Remedy would be pleased at my enthusiasm to try their new IP.

So I bought it for $60, was sorely tempted to get the Limited Edition. I really really wish I had but no, I had to buy another game (used) because my game library was becoming dated. Still wish I had just gotten the Limited Editon...maybe I will later on. If I do i'll get it at retail so Remedy gets something out of my purchase :P

So I brought it home and popped it in, the music sucked me in and so did the visuals. I cannot tell you how many times people have said "LOL 520p resolution", but I think graphics don't make a good game. Good graphics are an added bonus, Alan Wakes style is very pleasing to the eye in my opinion.

SPOILERS AHEAD

So i'm in chapter 1 and I just ran down the pedestrian, when he comes "back" I start saying "Why'd I buy this game? I'm creeped out lol" and I start running and running from him. I notice the sprint doesn't last long so I'm jitterbugging back and forth until I find that my way to the lighthouse is blocked by the guy. So after all the running and explanation of Alan Wake's situation by Thomas Zane I start shooting through some taken.

Not only am I a good headshot with the revolver, I really enjoy blasting light on the taken. Plus as a writer i'm pumped about being in the shoes of a writer such as Alan Wake, it's even got me in the persona of a writer i've struggled to attain. I can't seem to write, and now when I think of this game I get inspired to write. I'm even working on a book right now :D

So halfway through i'm relieved to get some daylight sessions.

So i'm walking into the bright falls diner and i get the attention of Rose, the Park Ranger and those two brothers. Good NPC's in games are hard to come by, and I really appreciated this element of the game. So then i'm walking with Alice to the cabin, walking with her (yeah i'm silly and punctual like that) and then I really noticed the...natural beauty of the cabin's surroundings. It's here I noticed Alan's "musings" about the cabin when you walk towards the back on the right side and hear his thoughts.

Then when Alice and Alan fight and the chaos ensues I actually start to care about these characters.

So then i'm walking through the forest and i'm thinking:

"Oh god there's gotta be another way, no Remedy please don't make me go in there. *notices car falling off cliff* FUUUUUUUUUU xD

Carl Stucky creeped me out. nuff said on that.

So then I get to chapter 2 and i'm noticing how much emphasis on interaction Alan Wake uses, and I like it. Very much. Barry Wheeler, holy crap what a memorable character xD.

Walking down to the Park Ranger at night was absolutely insanely creepy, especially when I realized I wasn't going to save him. Killing him was bittersweet to say the least. Once again Remedy makes me take a trail through a forest, and I would never ever do this in real life at night. Never, and I sometimes thought I was going to be attacked by a bear with all the signs I saw.

Fighting off the taken with the kidnapper was good fun, and the ravens were creepy to fight off. gotta love the flare gun. The end of chapter 2 was awesome with Rose, just awesome.

So chapter 3 I lose my friend and got chased into a forest, geez Remedy you made me insecure in this game. haha. So i'm begging for the programmers to have left me some guns and a flashlight, and I get flashbangs. I think to myself "Aw man i'm screwed", then I use them...and fall in love with the flashbangs as a weapon. Chapter 3 is probably the one that creeps me out the most, groping through a forest with Taken AND police after me is a creepy thing.

When I drive to the coal mine i'm actually kind of sad the sun came up, because I enjoyed taking out taken at the end of Chapter 2 with the car. I wasn't going to complain though. So when I have to go from the Coal Mine to Cauldron Lake I was starting to feel claustrophobic. Geez could the taken pop out any closer in the buildings? I have to say the end cutscene when Wake is falling off the side with a flare is VERY NICELY captured.

Chapter 4 I realize I gotta leave the nuthouse, but damn having objects attack you was a twist I didn't expect. No really, the big objects attacking me in chapter 4 really freaked me out. What left a smile on my face as I faced death was the "Children of the Elder God" set piece, Barry becomes legendary in this part. Through the rest of this chapter he grows on me and at the end cutscene has me chuckling in my seat.

"When I mean rest I mean DRUNK"-Barry

Lmao.

So chapter 5 comes, and I start to get to know Sheriff Breaker. I like her too, and geez in the first run I didn't go anywhere away from her, but when I wanted the "you dun drink them bot up" I had the foresight to look in the diner the second time around. Fighting the taken with Sarah and eventually Barry was good stuff, and by the end of the chapter I was loving all the characters, all the twists, all the cutscenes and so forth. I really became sad when this game had one chapter left.

Chapter 6 I really don't have much to say, but those fast taken who blur like ghosts are creepy. thank god for flares. When the tornado appeared I was shooting off like..30 shots until I realized I was too far away. When I tried to get closer the first time, I ended up getting hit by a truck and dying. I thought gee, that would hurt in real life wouldn't it.

The "Words" portion was really cool, really really cool. The ending was satisfying but so open I couldn't wait to try the DLC.

The Signal was great, It creeped me out way more than the others. Barry was classic in this episode, and the section with the words that turned into enemies while books attack me was something i've NEVER seen before in a game. I loved it. My favorite has to be the lightpoles though, they helped alot when I ran out of ammo and "sprint" and I had to jitterbug my way through that part.

The end was soooooo crazy and good, and I can't wait for "The Writer".

I've played the campaign 3 times now, and I can't wait to play it again. I've really become a fan of the music, especially Poets of the Fall.

Damn, I definitely am a fan of Remedy now and can't wait for their next game, if its Alan Wake 2 i'll be dancing. Whatever it is, I can't wait for the next game from them.

Alan Wake was a good game released to a host of boring sequels that outsold it 3 to 1. I truly treasure having it, and I might even buy the limited edition and have two copies if I get enough spare cash. I thumbed through the instruction manual, loving the detailed pages. I am glad this game exists, not only is it a good game but it shined a light on the darkness that enveloped my brain. No I'm not a taken, lol. I mean that I had trouble writing even though people told me i'm good, and when I doubt myself I think of the game Alan Wake. It pushes me to write, so if Remedy ever sees this post I hope they like that their game has released me from the Writer's Block I had.

I'm finally writing thanks to Remedy.

I was so happy with this game I looked to see if the company had jobs, there was one as a producer for the next AAA title. God I had all the qualifications except for working on a AAA game in the past, *sigh* sadly I haven't. I was ready to pack my bags and move from NY to Finland though if I could have gotten the job, sadly not gonna happen :(

Doubt the gaming industry needs a History/Writing Major with 5 years of college :/

Too bad. But I'm a new fan of Remedy and they have inspired me of the rewards that come with writing. Thank you Remedy, you will be mentioned in my book.
